Breathless Resort & Spa - Cabo San Lucas

For many years, I have been discouraged to go to Cabo because you can’t go in the ocean. Well, I found an exception, it’s called Breathless Las Cabos Resort & Spa. This all-inclusive, adults only resort is one of the very few resorts that you are allowed to get into the ocean. Now that I am back home in Los Angeles, I am here to tell you all about it.

Breathless is a part of the AMR Collection which is now called the Inclusive Collection, a part of World of Hyatt. We got the Xhale Club Master Suite, Marina View. Xhale Club means you get access to an exclusive lounge, private pool (which his kind of public, I’ll explain later), priority seating at the main pool, dinner at a restaurant that is not part of the all inclusive, and the hot tub, sauna and steam room, plus private one on one check-in experience.

There are 7 restaurants with no lack of cuisine choice, 1 coffee shop, and 2 bars on property. There are so many food options that we didn’t get to try them all. The service was amazing everywhere on the resort. It’s very clean, you literally see staff cleaning all day long, thoroughly. You can smell how clean it is lol. All food and drinks are included in your resort stay price. Except for Ocote, if you are not staying in an Xhale Club room, you have to pay $45 per person for dinner at Ocote. It is the only restaurant on the resort that has an additional fee for dinner, personally, it’s worth it, if you don’t have Xhale Club, to pay to eat there. Their food was soooo good! Ocote is open for breakfast for everyone at no additional cost, I just never had the chance to try their breakfast.

The map is a bit confusing, it takes a minute to get your bearings on where things are because a lot of the food options, beach access, gym, and the main pool are in the second building. Which can be a drag to get to if you don’t have a conveniently located Xhale Club room. Even when I asked staff for directions I was confused at first because they expect that you know how to get to a certain place with them just saying, it’s in the next building. When in reality, you have to go down stairs, across a driveway, then back upstairs and possibly even back downstairs, depending on where you are going. So, since their map is so confusing, I made some adjustments and attached a more user friendly version below.

I absolutely love how they have an app where you can make reservations, see all of the activities planned for the day, schedule house keeping, order room service, view menus of each restaurant on the resort, and chat with concierge.

My only two small issues with the service on the resort was on the final night at dinner. The server just seemed absent minded. We ordered a salad with no meat as there was pork in it. The salad came out and we expressed the concern, she acted oblivious and then took the salad back, but it literally came back out within 45 seconds. There was no way the salad was remade, the pork was just picked off of it. When our first round of drinks were done, she didn’t even ask if we wanted more drinks. One of our other food items was the wrong item, we ordered eggplant parmesan and instead we got chicken parmesan, decided not to even make a fuss and just ate it. The food over all was good, but the service made the experience a bit unpleasant.

The second issue was at the spa, the woman helping me kept disappearing. The part that really was like okay, I’m just leaving now was at the end, when I asked if she was able to take a picture for me. Instantly she agreed, but then said, I will be right back, I waited a few minute and just ended up leaving. The picture would have taken just a second. She has no obligation to take the photo, but perhaps maybe she should have just been upfront with me and said, sorry I can’t. That’s much better than just disappearing again.

Things I really loved about the resort:

  • The food is always made to order, no buffet style dining.

  • No wristbands needed.

  • The resort is very clean and you literally see staff cleaning every day.

  • Restrooms on every level where there is food and entertainment.

  • Their own app with daily activities, restaurant hours/menus, concierge etc.

  • 24/7 Coffee shop, bar and actual food available 24/7.

  • All staff can communicate in English.

Things I feel could have used some work:

  • Lighting in some key areas, such as the restrooms and stairways.

  • The wifi was very touch and go.

  • Better directional signage/maps.

  • I wasn’t a fan of the cabanas only being available to those that pay for bottle service. Which start at $200 USD.

  • Most of the party/club events on the resort are typically Friday - Sunday. So if you’re looking to party without having to leave the resort, make sure you are there for the weekend.

Below is a day by day breakdown, including any activities. Travel dates Monday April 24th - Saturday April 29th.

Day 1:

  • Landed at SJD. I booked a private driver, round trip for $180 USD. The airport is intense, you will have people yelling ar you for rides, time shares, activities etc. Keep your head down and keep moving. Make sure you have your transportation planned prior to your arrival and follow the directions of the company you booked with.

  • Arrived at Breathless Los Cabos, before you can even drive on to the property, you must check in with security then you’re allowed to drive up to the lobby area. From there they escorted us to the Xhale Club lounge which is where you do your check-in process. If you don’t have the Xhale Club, you would check-in, in the main lobby area.

  • Our room wasn’t ready, so we went and ate at Barefoot, one of the restaurants on the resort. Upon finishing, the room was ready and we just freshened up, ended up taking naps and just ordering room service.

  • Went and hung out the 24/7 Wink bar, there was live music playing.

  • Our room was tailored to our preference. Before arriving, they send a questionnaire to get to know you and if you’re celebrating anything. Our door had a “Birthday Bash” sign, a bottle on champagne and other small details I entered on the questionnaire.

  • Flew Delta to get to Cabo, good experience.

Day 2:

  • I was up early, like 7am, so I went and worked out. The gym is a decent size with lots of options for equipment.

  • I grabbed coffee and a pastry from “The Nook” which is open 24/7!

  • We went to a mall to get some running shoes because Andre forgot his at home.

  • While he worked out, I had lunch at “Spoon” a restaurant by the main pool that is open for lunch to about 5pm, I believe. Really great food again.

  • Dinner at Ocote.

Day 3:

  • Worked out.

  • Ate breakfast at Bites, had coffee etc.

  • Hung out at the beach.

  • Had dinner at Nobu. Nobu is a journey to get to, it’s about a 30 minute drive, 8 minutes of that drive is the road after you go through security for the first time. When you actually arrive at the Nobu Hotel, you go through security again.

  • After dinner we came back to our hotel and caught the end of the NBA games at the Wink bar.

Day 4:

  • Worked out.

  • Breakfast at The Nook.

  • Had lunch at Barefoot and lounged at the pool.

  • Went jet skiing, we just found a company on the beach. They accept credit card, but the best option is to use cash. It was $70 each for jet ski’s regardless of if you have ride doubles or singles.

  • Had a pre-dinner at Bites and then later dinner at Spumante.

  • Watched the fire show.

Day 5:

  • I woke up early to make sure I made it to the 9am Yoga class I had been trying to get to every day lol. It was really good, glad I got to do it.

  • Had breakfast at Bites

  • Hung out at the Xhale Club pool, this pool is very laid back, no loud music, most people are relaxing and reading near this pool. Seemed to be an honor system as far as the usage for it because technically its only for Xhale Club guests.

  • Went to the Spa to use the amenities that were included in the Xhale Club. The spa is very nice, I just didn’t understand how the massages were outdoor on a balcony overlooking the main pool, so you hear all of the music white trying to relax.

  • Dinner at Spumante this was the night that the service wasn’t great there.

  • Hung out by the fire pit while having dessert.

Day 6:

  • Woke up, got dressed and packed everything

  • Checked out

  • Had breakfast and headed to the airport

  • Flew back to LA with JetBlue, I do not recommend it anymore. They charge you for checking in carry-ons because you cant bring them on the plane with you if you don’t have some sort of upgraded ticker, which I never knew was a thing.

If you arrive early or departure is later in the day after check out time, you still have access to the entire resort for the full day. So, don’t worry about getting there too early or having a late flight.

Overall, I enjoyed my experience here and would definitely recommend Breathless for your visit to Cabo San Lucas.

Below are some photos, a video, and the annotated map.

P.S. If you’d like for me to book this trip or similar for you please feel free to contact me.

The map I promised earlier.
